I “spring clean” all year round. It just simply makes me feel good when I need a pick me up. I get an idea, I marinate in it and boom, I’m ready to start.
The idea or inspiration starts off from irritation and frustration. Something isn’t working right, I can’t find something and I figure there must be a better way.
It could be a shelf, a closet, my purse, car, inbox, day-timer, makeup drawer or a huge project.
When I’m in the mode and you have to be otherwise it’s torture. I limited the distractions, no music, no podcasts, no checking my devices etc. The voices, thoughts and ideas in my head are enough stimulation for me to try to focus on what I’m trying to get done.
I love the finished results, the absolute pleasure and pride I feel. It is basic relief similar to walking in a pair of shoes with the tongue twisted and then straightening the tongue and it feels so much better. Why did I wait so long? This is the way it ought to be. Simple changes to make it right, to make it comfortable. The irritations and frustrations have vanished.
Needless to say I Organize people and spaces for a living because the feeling of make thing better is so rewarding. I invite you to try a small spring cleaning project today. And the key is small, please don’t tackle anything that you can’t finish in a short period. Otherwise you will hate me for the spring cleaning inspiration and suggestion. There is nothing worse than a half finished project that never gets finished. Well there is, right? But lets not go there.
And if this spring cleaning thing isn’t your “thang” , hire an organizer to do a big or small project for you.
As an alternative to spring cleaning you can always go to the hair salon and get a new do, also a weight off your shoulders.
Keeping it light, appreciate the little things that bring a smile to your face.
